Catching Up...So many things!

Boy oh boy attentive viewers! have things been happening around here...they have...yes, they have.  This post is going to be a smash grab blog bombshell dating back all the way to Christmas and perhaps...BEYOND. (ok, maybe not "beyond", just kind of sounded epic.)

The Christmas Holidays were a bit of a precursor for the larger event in the lives of the Barnes family...the Chel girl got married to her TFA sweetheart, Edwin Ochoa on January 6th, 2012.

I almost got Brady a sweatshirt...lucky for me, Tangled up in Hue, didn't have his size...so I got him a dump truck.  Or maybe the Dump Truck.  Brady has become obsessed with his dump truck, Andrea tells me that he takes it everywhere he goes.

Andrea's preggers with a baby Girl!  Which is destined to become Brady 2.0 (faster, quicker, stealthier) so I found a super bright onesie so Andrea can spot her from a mile away.

Brady loves to cook, here he's using his new dump truck as...perhaps an oven.

Grandpa/Dad and the B man spent much of their time behind the recliner in the family room.

The start of our journey to Texas, we stopped by Mad town Friday night.  Brady on Saturday morning playing with the flamingos that would later mark our rented home in Texas.

Skeptical Flamingo

Brady was a big help with packing the van.

Brady got all the frost scrapped off the van and sent us on our way.

On our path to Texas we stopped at the Lincoln Presidential Library.  I quickly spotted a shady figure lurking outside, sure enough, it was John Wilkes Booth.

After the authorities took away Booth, Mom and I were asked to Tea with U.S. Grant and I think John McClellan, both Generals with the Union Army.

a Stencil in the parking garage in Austin.

I had a ton of fun playing around with the B man.

I got Adam, Settlers of Catan, for Christmas...we played with anyone we could grab, and we had many fierce games.

Love this one, the B man has shoes like Uncle Timmy!

Grandpa teaching Brady how to drive...I think after I took this one we got a couple of phone books he could sit on so he could see while driving.

After returning home the roommates threw a Black and White party at our house.  My roommates Brian and Rex playing some Guitar Hero.

Rex and I rocking...looks like Rex was saying, "STELLA."  On another note, i'm wearing my groomsman tie from the ChEdwo wedding!

Some of the group gathered for the toast and a prayer, the party was in honor of a guy from their church.

I got a six pack of Texas Brews from the Chedwo that I just cracked open last night...needless to say they were pretty good.  I started with the Fireman's #4 Blonde Ale.  A tasty brew that I have no doubt would be a welcome drink after emerging from a burning house.  This one was my favorite so far, I have three more to go.

Next on the docket I tried the Shiner Blonde.  I have to say Shiner makes some damn good beer, every variety that I have tried has been excellent.  We had Shiner on tap at the wedding and it was oh so good, I may have to go on a treasure hunt in Wisco to find a bar with Shiner on tap.

Lastly I tried the Bootlegger Brown Ale, brewed in Austin Texas, this one has been my favorite label.  It definitely was a good one to end with, being a more taste-astic (i made that up, don't look in the dictionary) beer.  I have three more to try, so stay tuned.

If my loyal readers want a more "fleshed out" version of our trip check out my mom and dad's blog.  I had a blast on all aspects of this journey, from Christmas, my road trip with Mom and Dad, the week leading up to, and of course the perfect wedding of my sister and new brother-in-law!

Love you All,
Tim

Snow at the Falls

I took a trek out to Big Falls county park to see what I could see.  I was amazed at how much ice there was out there already...definitely no more canoeing this year.

It was a beautiful day for a hike...notice the river below the falls is completely frozen over.

A mini water fall.

A clump of grass clinging to a rock face covered in frosty spray.

The Eau Claire fork of the falls.

Leading up to the falls...all is calm.

Above the falls, notice all the floating ice...gotta be some chilly water.

The border between the frozen section and the liquid.

I wonder if birds get cold sitting on snowy branches.

The sun was casting some mighty shadows.
